Western DFC section to be opened this summer

Ateli- Phulera rail section, part of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, would become operational in August 2018, Ashwani Lohani, the Chairman of Indian Railways Board announced.
The section has a length of 190 km with 10 viaducts and major bridges, 127 small bridges and 118 road underground bridges. Six freight stations and two junctions are on the rail section between the cities of Ateli (Mahendragarh district, north Indian state) and Phulera (Jaipur district in the Indian state of Rajasthan).
The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor covers a distance of 1504 km double electric line from Jawahar Lal Nehru Port (JNPT) to Dadri via Vadodara-Ahmedabad-Palanpur-Phulera-Rewari. The Western Corridor passes through 5 Indian states. The Western DFC is will join Eastern Corridor at Dadri.
The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, which will link Ludhiana to Dankuni, will have a total length of 1856 km with two distinct segments – an electrified double-track segment of 1409 km and an electrified single-track segment of 447 km.
Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) will increase the speed to 100 km/h, from 75 km/h on Indian Railway lines and thanks to the projects, the average speed of freight trains will also be increased from existing speed of 26 km/h to 70 km/h on Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs).
The Western Corridor is being funded by Japan International Corporation Agency, while the Eastern Corridor from Mughalsarai to Ludhiana is being funded by the World Bank.
