Vossloh and RZD sign MoC on high-speed rail production

RZD semneaza-MoC Vossloh_Russian-Railways-Moscow-to-NiceRussian Railways (RZD) and Vossloh have signed an agreement which could involve localising production of high-speed rail components and maintenance equipment. The Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC), which was signed during the Strategic Partnership 1520 conference, will see Vossloh look to develop Russian gauge standards for rail fastenings and components for high-speed rail. In a statement, Vossloh said it would consider establishing a production base in Russia. “We are already connected with Vossloh by the installation of the first turnout for heavy traffic in Russia at the Orekhovo-Zuyevo station on the Moscow railway. It has shown good results,” Senior Vice President of Russian Railways Valentin Gapanovich said. As per the memorandum, the parties will jointly examine the prospects for developing rail services, including milling and grinding (including the use of a high-speed rail-grinding train) to extend the life of rails.
