USD 700mn stretch of Mexico City-Toluca railway awarded

mexic_indexA consortium led by Caabsa Constructora won a contract to build the third stretch of the Mexico City-Toluca railroad with a bid of 10.4bn pesos (USD 704mn). Caabsa’s partners in the consortium are Prefabricados y Transportes, Cargo Crane, Grupo Corporativo Amodher, Omega Construcciones Industriales and González Soto y Asociados.
Other companies that participated in the project are a consortium led by Isolux de México, Sacyr Construcción México, Grupo Promotor de Desarrollo e Infraestructura, Peninsular Compañía Constructora, Operadora CICSA and Tradeco Infraestructura.
In November, a consortium led by Spanish company CAF won the contract for the delivery of trains, rail and communication infrastructure, ticketing facilities and associated services.
Mexico City-Toluca project involves the construction of a 58 km high-speed rail linking the city of Toluca and Mexico City, starting from Lerma and running all the way to Santa Fe, Mexico. It also includes a public works contract for the construction of a 36 km of rail track, as well as other rolling stock tenders and electromechanical works.
The project is scheduled to be completed by end-2017.
