TX Logistik provides additional services between Leipzig and Verona

Leipzig-Verona intermodal TX Logistik, part of Mercitalia Group, is expanding its Leipzig-Verona intermodal connection to eight instead of the previous six round trips per week.

The rail logistics company says that the reason for the expansion is the current high market demand for rail transport capacity.

The starting point and destination in Leipzig is the Duss terminal. In Italy, the Sommacampagna – Sona terminal, located slightly west of Verona, is served. On the route over the Brenner Pass, Hall in Tirol is also served regularly. The train makes a stopover there. All services are provided by TX Logistik under its own control and include not only traction but also the marketing of the transport capacities.

A train can carry up to 34 loading units, including bulk and tank containers as well as swap bodies and semi-trailers. Goods of all kinds are transported on the route, including vehicle parts, recyclables, recycled and chemical products, and consumer goods.

Beyond the current expansion of the service, demand from TX customers for intermodal transport continues. Therefore, the train frequency between Leipzig and Verona will be increased further in the future.

The connection is part of the Brenner Corridor which is of economic importance for the region. TX Logistik regularly connects five locations in Germany as well as Padborg in Denmark with northern Italy on the Brenner axis. Starting May 2021, the logistics company has increased its services from four to five times a week in each direction on the Leipzig-Verona intermodal connection. In June 2021, the company also increased its train frequency on the Padborg – Verona route with a seventh round trip. With the extensions announced last year, TX Logistik provided 41 round trips corresponding to 82 trains per week on the north-south axis via Brenner.

In addition, last year TX Logistik has also increased its connection betwrrn Germany and Italy by increasing its number of round trips on the Duisburg – Segrate connection from five to six per week due to the increased demand for the transport of semi-trailers.
