Systra and Cowi obtain contract in Sweden

02_systraSystra and Cowi have received a contract from the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) in the framework of the Eastern Link project. Systra and Cowi have won the technical consultancy contract for the third stage of the project, with a contract sum in the range of SEK 100-300 million (10.7-32.1 million euros). Cowi is charged with developing the plan for the railway as well as the basic design for 75 out of a total of 150 kilometres of railway.

The Eastern Link is a planned high-speed railway, aiming to improve the infrastructure in Eastern Sweden. The new high-speed railway is part of a future connection between Stockholm and Gothenburg/Malmö. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2017 and the first trains will commence operation in 2028.
