SNCF selects onboard train communications system provider

Following a competitive tender, SNCF entered into an agreement with Klas Telecom and French partner Seolane Innovation to supply TRX R6 Connected Transportation Platform onboard system.
The TRX R6 technology supports a range of applications including PIS, CCTV and Passenger Wi-Fi on a single easy-to-use and easy-to-manage platform.
“Through this tender process, we sought to develop our onboard technical solution to fulfil our customer requirements in terms of train connectivity and onboard services. Although new partners for us, Klas Telecom and Seolane have demonstrated their technical commitment by offering a modular, flexible and performing solution,” Julien Baratier, the Project Manager for SNCF said.
TRX provides a multifunctional solution capable of keeping passengers, engineers and operators connected to the resources and information. It is a converged solution based on Cisco networking technology and management tools. The server provides a host for virtualized systems supporting applications such as passenger Wi-Fi and infotainment services, video surveillance control and offload, locomotive event recording, asset management and tracking, analytics processing and collection, and more as operators seek to lower costs by reducing rail system complexity.
