RCG and Goldair Cargo launched their first rail freight service in Greece

Rail Cargo Group and its Greek partner Goldair Cargo launched their first rail freight operation on June 27, at RCG terminal in Sindos, Thessaloniki, making the first trip from the terminal to Idomeni, near the border with Macedonia.
Rail Cargo Logistics – Goldair will operate as an open-access rail freight operator with trains providing freight transport services from the terminal, to Idomeni, near the border with Macedonia and in the Thessaloniki region. The JV’s new potential relies on transport route from Central Europe to the ports of Thessaloniki and Piraeus, allowing RCG to ensure continuous transport services between Germany and Greece via Bulgaria (Kulata border crossing).
In 2014 Goldair Cargo in cooperation with Austrian state railways, established Rail Cargo Logistics Goldair and, since 2015, OBB’s subsidiary Rail Cargo Group is working with Goldair Cargo, making the JV one of successful rail freight forwarding and logistics companies on the Greek market. The joint venture is the first active company offering traction services on Greek market.
Goldair Cargo was founded in 1987 and is currently one of the leading national freight forwarding and logistics companies in Greece. The company specializes in international road, sea and air transport. The company owns logistic centers in Athens and Thessaloniki, equipped with the latest warehouse management system.
