Rail Cargo Group connects Austria with Scandinavia

With the TransFER Wels-Lübeck, the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group is putting a non-stop connection running twice a week between the Austrian HUB Wels and the Northern European metropolis on rail. From mid-February, the Rail Cargo Group will be linking Austria and Northern Europe. As the largest German Baltic Sea port, the port of Lübeck is a central transhipment point between the economic centres of Western and Central Europe and the rapidly developing Baltic Sea region.
Via Terminal Wels, customers from Scandinavia and northern Germany benefit from a seamless connection to the national and international network of Rail Cargo Group. With its Wels hub, RCG offers attractive rail products to Italy, Switzerland, Southeastern Europe, Greece and Turkey. Forwarders from the Alpine region will now be able to reach Scandinavia directly and reliably by environmentally friendly rail.
RCG is thus not only expanding its range of services, but is also shortening transit times to and from the Baltic Sea port and strengthening combined transport within Austria as well as to northern Germany. Direct connections also represent a high priority for optimal hinterland and antenna connections. The product TransFER Wels-Lübeck also offers common ferry connections via the port of Lübeck.
