Poland launches the first tender under National Railway Programme

polandPoland’s railway infrastructure manager PKP PLK launched the tender on Warsaw – Bialystok railway line modernization project. This tender opens a new formula investment and in the same time is the first tender under National Railway Programme.
In September, the company intends to start PLN 5 billion (EUR 1.2 billion) tenders. Within the projects, three railway sections on Warsaw – Bialystok railway line will be modernized. The line is part of the future Rail Baltica corridor.
PKP PLK is preparing a new modernization project on 230 km that comprises: No. 36, on Ostrołęka – Łapy line (80 km of single track), No. 31 on Czeremcha – Siedlce section (85 km of double-track) and No. 32, on Czeremcha – Białystok line (70 km of single track).
‘This tender we launched will have a positive effect on railway transport. The  Warsaw – Bialystok line is a strategic one, that is part of Rail Baltica corridor. This year we plan to launch PLN 11 billion (EUR 2.6 billion) tenders. We are ready for a new perspective and ready to implement the National Railway Programme,’ PKP PLK Board member Marcin Mochocki said.
After the completition of the project, freight trains speed will double. Line E75 or Rail Baltica is a priority for national railway transport, as well as for European transport.
