Pesa delivers new Vilnius-Klaipėda train

lthThe first of seven 730ML train from Pesa arrived in Lithuania and will begin to operate the Vilnius-Klaipėda route this spring immediately upon all the necessary tests are carried out.
It is expected that the other trains from Pesa will operate in Lithuania already in autumn. The new low-floor trains will be adapted to the needs of people will disabilities, have ergonomic seats and air conditioning. There will be 150 seats of which 16 – the first class. All trains will be equipped with Wi-Fi network and provide wireless Internet access.
Manufactured through modern engineering solutions, the new generation vehicles of the train will require less repair and maintenance. It is estimated that fuel consumption per 100 km of a new diesel train will be about 100-110 liters, compared to old locomotives with three wagon trains that consume 180 liters.
Currently, the distance between Vilnius and Klaipėda in covered in 3 hours 45 minutes. It is expected that the time of the journey will be reduced to 3 hours in the near future.
