ONCF tests high speed train on Tangiers – Casablanca railway

Morocco-HSR_high-speed-train9The national Moroccan railway company ONCF began the first testing of high-speed train between Tangier and Casablanca. ONCF announced that it would open the ‘dynamic testing’ of the first Moroccan high speed train. Tests spread over several months and take place on the traditional line between Tangiers and Casablanca. The TGV is equipped with a laboratory where the railway experts and civil authorities consult with measurements taken by the onboard instruments.
The first TGV Duplex train for Morocco’s inaugural high-speed line arrived in the country at the port of Tangiers on June 29.
Moroccan National Railways placed a EUR400m order with Alstom in December 2010 for 14 of the trains, which will be formed of two power cars and eight intermediate trailers, including two first class, five second class and one buffet vehicle. Each double-deck train will seat up to 533 passengers.
