Leo Express acquires Chinese EMUs

02-leo_expressCzech domestic rail operator Leo Express signed a contract to buy three Electric Mutiple Units (EMUs) from Chinese train manufacturer CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd (CRRC ZELC). The total value of the transaction exceeds 20 million euros.
The contract includes three EMUs, spare parts, testing equipment and training services. This is the first EMU product of a Chinese enterprise to enter the European Union market, said Liao Hongtao, deputy general manager of CRRC ZELC.
CRRC ZELC will provide all the electric locomotives that Leo Express needs in the next few years, and Leo Express could buy 30 EMUs in three years, he added.
