JR Tokai starts construction of Tokyo-Nagoya maglev line

japan_maglevCentral Japan Railway Co (JR Tokai) held ceremonies at Shinagawa Station (Tokyo) and Nagoya Station to mark the start of the construction of a new maglev line. The maglev trains will run between Tokyo and Nagoya and will be able to reach a top speed of over 500 km/hour. The full-fledged construction will begin in early 2015. The 286-kilometer line is expected to be operational by 2027.
