Japanese investors to finance Košice-Vienna broad gauge line project

kosice-viennaJapanese investors have expressed interest in the project for the extension of the broad gauge railway Košice-Vienna, the president of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin said, TASS reports.
The exchange of letter has taken place so far and Japanese investors have shown interest in the project, Yakunin said.
At the beginning of July, Yakunin said that he proposed to Japanese partners to participate in financing Košice-Vienna project.
The business plan for the project has been prepared and now initial capital should be secured. The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR 5 billion. Currently the implementation of the project is successfully continues with the participation of the of railway companies of Austria, Slovakia, Russia and Ukraine.
Yakunin said, the amount of foreign investments has not yet been identified, and the decision on the contribution by RZD requires consultations with the government.
