Jakarta receives first airport train from Bombardier and PT INKA

Railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has received the first train from the rolling stock ordered to operate on the rail link to Jakarta’s airport. The train will connect the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten to Manggarai Station in South Jakarta and Kota Station in West Jakarta on a 36.4-kilometer line.

The rest of the trains will be delivered in September, according to KAI president director Edi Sukmoro. A total of 10 trains will be operated along the airport railway, each able to transport up to 270 passengers per trip. The trains are manufactured by Bombardier Inc. along with state-owned train manufacturer PT INKA. The value of the order is approx. US$70 million.
