Izmir Metropolitan Municipality announced that 5 of the 19 metro trainsets to be used in Izmir Metro will be delivered in October. The total value of the project amounts to EUR 79,8 million. The Municipality has requested a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance the order. Izmir Municipality signed, in 2015, a contract with Chinese company CRRC Tangshan for 19 metro trainsets in order to meet the increasing demand in Izmir Metro. After the first delivery of 3 trainsets in October, 8 trainsets will be delivered in February 2017 and remaining 8 trainsets in May 2017.
