Iran calls ECO member states to boost rail transport ties

rail transport ECOAddressing the 12th meeting of heads of ECO railway authorities and the 6th meeting of the Railway Committee of the Transport Transit Cooperation Council (TTCC),  Iranian Transport and Urban Development Minister Abbas Akhoundi said  that ECO (an intergovernmental regional organization) accounts for just 3 percent of the global trade. So, the member states should double efforts to increase the share through increasing rail transport ties, Tehran Times reports.
Akhoundi urged the private sector to invest in the expansion of rail transport infrastructures in the region.
Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), is an intergovernmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey for the purpose of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the Member States.
