Infraestruturas de Portugal supports more rail investments

Portugal-railway_imagesPortuguese transport company Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) may transfer operation of its telecommunications network to another company. CEO Antonio Ramalho said the company may temporarily transfer excess capacity at IP Telecom, but not its concession. He noted that this model was used in Spain. Any contract would have to take account of concerns at the railway operator, with the maintenance of security levels and network capacity. According to Ramalho, the proceeds from such a contract would support more investment in rail.
