Green light for Thailand-China railway line

The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) approved a draft memorandum of understanding to be signed with China for the development of a dual-track railway system, with the guarantee that China will not be allowed to use the land along the railway.
The project includes two dual-track rail lines in the country, that will connect one of its northern provinces, the capital Bangkok and another eastern province. China will be responsible for the construction and development of a new project. More than USD 10 billion of investment will be involved in the project.
The 860-kilometer railway is going to be connected to the China-Laos trans-national railway. The draft was endorsed by the cabinet late last month.
