Rail operator FirstGroup has announced a five-year plan to improve its information services to passengers. IPL, which specialises in information management projects, will work with FirstGroup on the five-year programme.
The agreement between FirstGroup and IPL will “develop ways to improve the customer experience”. Early projects in the programme will include mobile services.
“Up-to-the-minute information in the hands of staff and customers is key to the successful running of today’s railway, and IPL will help us enhance the way we do this by using technology in intelligent ways. A targeted investment in this area can deliver transformative results,” Duncan Waugh, head of rail information systems at FirstGroup, said.
