Finland to develop one-ticket mobility service network

VR-trains_VR kaukojuna junaliikenne pendolinoFinland is working on a future mobility service that will enable passengers to travel door to door using different forms of transport with just one ticket. Developed by state rail company VR Group, the aim of the intermodal service is to allow passengers to buy combinations of mobility services in a single unit of travel.
Once travellers select a starting point and destination, the service will pick out for them the most functional routes, modes of transport and combinations.
To help develop the service, VR is hosting this autumn a major Hackathon – an event where a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming.
The Hackathon, which will take place from 12-16 September, will join industry experts and start-up enterprises to brainstorm and build travel-chain customer services and business opportunities.
