Eurostar joins Eurail Group. Pass holders benefit from lower fares

Im Dezember 2010 erteilte Eurostar International Ltd. Siemens den Auftrag über zehn interoperable 16-teilige Hochgeschwindigkeitszüge. Diese basieren auf der weltweit variantenreichsten Hochgeschwindigkeitsplattform Velaro und werden ab 2015 auf dem Streckennetz London–Paris–Brüssel die bestehende Eurostar-Flotte im Verkehr durch den Eurotunnel zwischen Großbritannien und dem europäischen Festland ergänzen. Mit einer Leistung von 16.000 kW erreicht der Eurostar e320 (Class 374) eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 320 km/h. Im Vergleich zu den Vorgängermodellen verfügen die e320 über rund 20 Prozent mehr Kapazität und können 900 Fahrgäste befördern. Der e320 ist mit 400 Metern der längste Triebzug aus der Velaro-Familie. In December 2010, Eurostar International Ltd. awarded Siemens a contract for ten interoperable 16-car highspeed trains. These trains are based on Velaro, the world's most highly diversified high-speed platform. Starting at the end of 2015, these trains will be added to the existing Eurostar fleet operating on the London–Paris–Brussels line running through the Eurotunnel between Great Britain and the European continent. Rated at 16,000 kW, the Eurostar e320 (Class 374) reaches a top speed of 320 km/h. Carrying 900 passengers, the e320 boosts capacity per train by 20 percent compared to predecessor models. At 400 m, the longest train in the Velaro family.Interrail, which simplifies rail travel throughout 30 European countries with its series of flexible rail passes, is adding Eurostar, the high-speed passenger rail service linking the UK with mainland Europe, to its membership group from 2017 onwards. With the new partnership, Interrail Pass holders travelling on Eurostar will enjoy new special fares and greater availability of seat reservations, providing even more value for money than ever before.

Interrail Global and applicable One Country Pass holders looking to discover multiple destinations as they hop on and off Europe’s rail network can secure Eurostar Pass holder fares from EUR 30 one way in Standard class or EUR 38 in Standard Premier with their Interrail Pass, making it easier to incorporate a high-speed journey under the Channel into their unique rail journey.
The fares will be available between London, Ebbsfleet and Ashford International and Paris, Brussels, Lille, Calais and Disneyland Paris.

Interrail Passes can be booked up to 11 months in advance and used to travel in up to 30 European countries, giving travellers the flexibility to create their own unique rail itinerary across Europe.
