Etihad Rail signs digitalisation agreement

digital logistics servicesEtihad Rail and Transportr signed an agreement to establish robust digital logistics services. This will allow rapid and cost effective solutions as part of UAE rail company’s long-term digital innovation strategy for the rail sector.

Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly work on the development of integrated logistics services through digital solutions, including tracking, booking, and multi-modal connectivity. The complete digital rail freight solution is set to complement the range of new and complex technologies offered by Etihad Rail.

“Etihad Rail is at the forefront of the industry in developing innovative solutions for its customers. Our collaboration with Transportr falls in line with our wider aim of providing customers with smart technologies that enable a resilient and cost-effective supply chain. Through integrating state-of-the-art technology into our network, we are creating a rail service that is new, modern, and cost effective, bringing significant benefits to the wider local and regional logistics sector,” Ahmed Al Hashemi, the Commercial executive director of Etihad Rail said.

The company’s investment to develop digital logistics services “is demonstrative of its wider holistic approach to implementing international best practice across the construction of the UAE’s National Rail Network,” Alaa Hawari, the general manager of Transportr said.

Modern technologies are of great importance to Etihad Rail and is committed to the highest standards of safety and security of the rail network construction and operation. The UAE’s rail network will provide high-standard quality services as the company has adopted the latest technologies for operating systems, contributing to economic and social development.

Etihad Rail is currently implementing the second stage of rail network development under which a 605 km connection from Ghuweifat on the border with Saudi Arabia to Fujairah on the east coast will be constructed. At the beginning of this year, the company has started tracklaying for the rail section from Al Ruwais to Ghuweifat, at the border.
