Consortium selected for Tallinn tram line extension

tallinnTallinn urban transport company Tallinna Linnatranspordi selected Merko Ehitus Eesti and KMG Inseneriehituse consortium to build  tram line extension.
Under the contract, Merko Ehitus Eesti and KMG Inseneriehitus will build a tunnel under the railway and Suur-Sojamae Street starting at the u-turn near Ulemiste railway station and ending at Keevise street, followed by a new tram line extension along Keevise street to the airport, where a u-turn will be built. Additionally a new substation will be built to power the trams.
The value of the contract is approximately EUR 11.5 million exclusive of VAT. Construction works will start in spring 2016 and are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.
