China to deliver 800 wagons to Pakistan Railways

pakistanPakistan Ministry of Railways and Jinan Railway Vehicles Equipment Company, a China CNR Corporation subsidiary, signed a contract for the supply of 800 hopper wagons.
Under the Rs 3.92 billion (USD 37.5 million) contract, CNR Jinan will deliver 200 fully operational wagons, and other 580 wagons have to be assembled at Mughalpura railway workshop. The ministry said that the wagons will supplied within 6 to 10 months.
These freight cars have an automatic discharge mechanism with a discharging time of 30 seconds. Loading can be done from the top while unloading can be carried from the sides through a pneumatic door operating mechanism as well as manually.
The wagons will be put into operation on railway routes from Port Bin Qasim to power plants.
For the rolling stock renewal, in June 2015, Pakistan Railways and GE signed a contract to supply of 55 GE diesel locomotives. The delivery of these units will start from November 2016 to April 2017.
