Albania receives EU grant for railway upgrade

01-albaniaThe European Commission has approved a EUR 36 million grant for an upgrade of the railway linking Albania’s capital Tirana with the coastal city of Durres and the construction of a railway to Tirana International Airport, the Ministry of European Integration announced. The total project cost is EUR 90 million.
The proceeds of the grants will be used to restructure Albania’s railways and integrate them into the European railway system. The project will provide a link between the country’s largest port of Durres and Tirana airport.
