Agreement for West-East rail freight transport development signed

The President of the International Multisectoral Association FERRMED, Joan Amorós, and the Secretary General of the Coordinating Council on Transsiberian Transportation (CCTT), Gennady Bessonov, have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on developing transport connections, increasing the effectiveness of international rail freight transport and attracting foreign trade cargo to the railways.
The two organizations will perform common analysis including work, elaboration of proposals and recommendations on improving cargo transport via international transport corridors, including the Trans-Siberian route. They will establish a common information space, will contribute to the increase of competitiveness of international rail transport through longer and compact trains, efficient multimodal terminals, broader loading gauge, rolling stock enhancement and improving the quality of transport services. In addition, FERRMED and CCTT will look for the implementation of new freight trains routes interconnecting key Trans-Eurasian logistics hubs with the corresponding pilot projects.
To achieve their goals, the association will jointly organise meetings, seminars and conferences, will prepare common measures, recommendations, decisions and control of their implementation.
