USA: Fiscal Year 2016 proposes new investments in public transport

PNY-metroresident Barack Obama’s Fiscal Year 2016 budget proposes a six-year surface transportation plan that would increase the federal investment in public transportation and inter-city passenger rail. The proposal would create new, dedicated funding for public transportation, inter-city passenger rail and highways, to better address needs in all these areas. The ” Rebuilding Our Infrastructure with Transition Revenue from Business Tax Reform,” would ” create jobs, spur economic growth and provide States and localities the certainty they need to plan for the future, the Budget includes a USD 478 billion, six-year surface transportation reauthorization proposal paid for with transition revenue from pro-growth business tax reform.”
The proposal would allow to repair existing roads and bridges and modernize the infrastructure with new investments in highways, freight networks, and bus, subway, rapid transit, light rail, and passenger rail systems in our cities, fast-growing metropolitan areas, small towns and rural communities across the country.
