UK: Penrith station becomes accessible

04-penrithNetwork Rail, in partnership with the Department for Transport (DfT), has carried out a £3m (EUR 3.5m) investment plan to ensure better and easier access to train services at Penrith station. The project included installing a new lift and footbridge enabling all passengers to use the station safely and easily. The work started in March 2016 and was completed on time and on budget.
The enhancement at the station forms part of the national Access for All scheme, a programme managed by Network Rail and funded by the DfT, with the aim of improving accessibility at train stations.
