TVZ starts trials for the new type of cars

Tver Carriage Works (TVZ) is conducting tests of the first compartment car model which is built on two-car couplings concept. This allows the organization of car’s interior depending on client requests.
Before launching mass production, the new cars will pass several tests including running gears – dynamic, braking, strength, and stationary – brake, climatic, sanitary and hygienic.
The production of the compartment single-deck and double-deck cars is stipulated in the agreement between Tver Carriage Works and the Federal Passenger Company for the period up to 2025. For seven years, 3,730 wagons will be built, under a USD 3.6 billion (RUB 237 billion) contract. The first deliveries of new single-deck coupe cars are scheduled for this year.
The mass production of the new cars will significantly change the long-distance passenger transport system and will significantly improve the quality of the services. Thanks to the new planning and interior solutions, additional common areas will appear in the trains.
The new design uses sealed inter-car junctions that allow you to create a single micro climate on the train and significantly reduce the noise level. It is possible to independently regulate the temperature of the air in the compartment and, if necessary, open a window, including in the corridor.
For the first time, the new cars have shower cabins, as well as catering areas, and they can be equipped with vending machines.
