The new Moscow tram presented

moscow-tramThe new model of tram, to be released next year, has been presented at the ExpoCityTrans-2016 exhibition in Moscow. The Russian capital will soon have 300 Vityaz-M low-floor three-unit trams.
The new cars feature climate control and fire suppression systems, as well as security surveillance cameras and satellite navigation. Their autonomous operation reserve is 1,500 metres, which enables the tram to be relocated in the event of a power failure, so as not to interfere with the traffic.
The new tram is adapted for passengers with limited mobility, being equipped with a button on the door to communicate with the driver, a folding ramp and there is space for wheelchairs and seats.
Due to the special design of the tram car, movement will be quieter and more comfortable. The six-door car will also have the advantage of convenient and fast embarkation and disembarkation, and, as a consequence, faster travelling.
The design of some elements of the tram interior is not yet completed, but has been left to the passengers themselves to select.
Under the contract, the manufacturer has agreed to maintain and repair the new rolling stock for a period of 30 years.
In September 2016, Mosgortrans, the Moscow tramway operator awarded a USD 877 million contract for the supply and maintenance of 300 trams. The winner of the tender was a joint venture formed by Transmashholding subsidiary Metrowagonmash and PK Transport Systems.
The new trams will be delivered starting with 2017 until 2019, with 100 vehicle per year.
