Stadler to deliver Citylink tram-trains for Alicante

Stadler has signed a contract for the supply of six Citylink bimodal tram-trains for Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV). These tram-trains will be designed and produced entirely in Stadler’s factory in Albuixech (Valencia) and will run in the cities along the Costa Blanca. Citylink’s first unit will be delivered in 2019.

The new Citylink tram-trains will operate with both electric and diesel power. They will ensure maximum reliability and security, as well as comfort, accessibility and customer information according to the FGV standards for the rest of its Alicante lines.

The modernization plan of FGV for the Line 9 in Alicante operating between Benidorm and Denia includes the supply of six Stadler Citylink bimodal tram-trains. These new, lightweight vehicles will replace 2500-series diesel trains, which have been in use for over 50 years or subject to a certain number of renewals. Citylink will allow to circulate in certain sections of line 9 in the tram mode, for example through Denia.

“This new contract shows our clients’ confidence in our work and the quality of our vehicles. We’ve been working with FGV almost since its beginnings 30 years ago, and feel proud to be able to contribute to the development and progress of the infrastructure of the Valencian Community, where our presence is based on 120 years of collaboration”, said Íñigo Parra, CEO of Stadler Valencia.
