Prasarana and MRT Jakarta to collaborate on urban rail transport

07-prasaranaPrasarana Malaysia Bhd, Malaysia’s largest asset owner for land public transport, signed a memorandum of understanding with PT MRT Jakarta. Under the agreement, Prasarana would share its experience in the planning and operations of urban rail lines with the Indonesian operator. Prasarana and MRT Jakarta will also cooperate in various areas relating to rail and metro operations in Jakarta.
Prasarana’s unit, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, which operates the light rail transit (LRT) and monorail services in the Klang Valley will explore the possibility of exchanges in technical and operational information, expertise, and know-how to further enhance and develop mutual capabilities.
Prasarana, which will be operating Malaysia’s first mass rapid transit (MRT) line between Sungai Buloh and Kajang in 2017, said the collaboration was expected to create value for the public transport system in Jakarta.
