New passenger information and entertainment system for SBB trains

SBB and onboard infotainment provider GoMedia are now providing a new passenger information services (PIS) and entertainment system enabling passengers to use the onboard entertainment platform to access up-to-date journey information such as the live train times, next station, live mapping and train speed.

As well as PIS, passengers travelling with SBB can enjoy a range of films, TV shows, games and magazines through the GoMedia platform, reflective of Switzerland’s multiple spoken languages and cultural diversity.

Under the agreement, GoMedia and SBB have also created a ‘Kids Corner’, featuring universal favourites ‘Shaun the Sheep’, ‘Ben and Holly’ and ‘Peppa Pig’ to keep little ones entertained for the duration of their journey. For adults, there is a selection of daily newspapers as well as local and international news channels.

The portal is reached via passengers’ own devices and is custom designed with SBB’s branding, featuring the iconic SBB analogue clock. Content is accessible in four languages – German, French, Italian and English.

The infotainment platform is designed for SBB trains running across Switzerland, Germany, Italy and France, and is available from December 2019, with all international SBB trains being equipped with the new system by the end of 2021.
