Marian Mihail Calin, the new General Manager of AFER

The Romanian Railway Authority (AFER) has a new General Manager. Marian Mihail Calin was appointed head of AFER today, 23 August, through an Order of the Romanian Minister of Transport, Lucian Sova.
The new General Manager of AFER is one of the speakers at Club Feroviar Summit – Railway Days 2018, held on 16-17 October in Bucharest.
Previously, Marian Mihail Calin was Deputy General Manager of the same Authority.
Marian Mihail Calin replaces Constantin Andronache who was the General Manager of AFER since March 2018.
A graduate from Politehnica University of Bucharest in 1997, Marian Mihail Calin began his career as engineer at Rosiori Depot. He had several leader positions such as: head of depot (Rosiori), dead of depot (Bucharest-Marshalling Yard); senior traffic controller; project manager; head of technical documentation, rolling stock modernisation, CFR Marfa; Technical Manager, Deputy Manager S.C. CFR IRLU S.A. (a subsidiary of CFR Marfa dealing with maintenance, repair and modernisation of locomotives), Manager of the Romanian Railway Safety Authority (ASFR), within AFER, Deputy General Manager, CFR Marfa and Deputy General Manager of the Romanian Railway Authority – AFER. In 1997, he got an MA from Politehnica University of Bucharest, Faculty of Mechanics – Tribology, and in 2014 he got a PhD in engineering sciences with the thesis called “Contributions regarding the study of the wheel-rail contact in rail vehicles”.
