TX Logistik introduces new route between Germany and Romania

One train can accommodate up to 36 unit loads. The route will mainly freight mega-trailers towards Romania carrying, amongst other things, components for the auto industry, and towards Germany carrying fixtures, furnishings and fittings, as well as other consumer goods. Major clients that use the open train system include Italian logistics company Arcese and the Romanian forwarder Dunca Expediţii.

The route leads from the CTS Container-Terminal in Niehl/Cologne, via Würzburg and Passau, through Austria and Hungary to the Trade Trans Terminal in Curtici, just a few miles from the Hungarian border. TX Logistik (TXL) is responsible for and controls the entire transport chain.

“The route between Cologne and Curtici will create a new corridor for our network between eastern and western Europe”, says Berit Börke, Sales Director at TXL.

This is the rail logistics company’s first route between Germany and Romania. Starting with 2017, TXL has operated three round trips per week on the Herne-Budapest route. Berit Börke sees considerable future growth opportunities for the west-east route: “With the Cologne-Curcini route, we’re also thinking of the Turkish market”.
