Tender for Belgrade first metro line to be launched in 2020

The Belgrade government plans to launch the tender for the construction of the first metro line in 2020, according to Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali. The feasibility study on the project will be carried out in 2019.
The construction works will start in 2020 and will be completed in 2022 or 2023, Sinisa Mali added. The first two stations of the metro network will be situated in Makisko Polje and Banovo Brdo neighbourhoods in southern Belgrade, while the third one will be built at the Belgrade Fair Centre located near the Sava river.
According to the 2017 transport masterplan, two metro lines will be built, of 22 kilometres and 19.8 kilometres in length, respectively, with construction works expected to take between three and four years.
