Queensland to approve Beerburrum – Nambour modernisation project

sunshineThe upgrade of the North Coast Rail Line between Beerburrum to Nambour has been recognised as a priority infrastructure project that is ready for government investment, according to the State Government’s Building Queensland’s second Infrastructure Pipeline report released on January 16.
The project involves the duplication of the 20 km Beerburrum – Landsborough section on North Coast mainline and other improvements through to Nambour.
“With the business case in place, council believes there should be no impediment to the State and Federal governments now committing the necessary funding for this long overdue project,” Sunshine Coast Acting Mayor Tim Dwyer said.
In a statement, Minister for Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning Jackie Trad said the Pipeline update affirmed “the need for the Beerburrum to Nambour rail upgrade project, a major priority for the Sunshine Coast community which will provide a more integrated and effective transport system and improve connectivity in South East Queensland.”
