PKP Cargo and National R&D Centre to invest EUR 7 million new technologies for the rail transport

PKP CARGOPKP Cargo and the National Research and Development Centre signed an agreement on freight optimization, innovation and advanced logistics solution followed by safety improvement. The projects derived from the R&D Works will be submitted by the universities, scientific units and companies from the transport sector.
Under the agreement, the partners will allocate PLN 15 million (EUR 3.54 million) each for the project. Joint initiative of the National Centre for Research and Development and PKP Cargo is based on the open innovation model, meaning that that it is addressed to the scientific units, universities and entrepreneurs.
PKP Cargo, in cooperation with the NRDC, is primarily focused on development of IT tools and logistics and operating process optimization systems (among others rolling stock and terminal management), which, apart from reduction of the operating costs, will enable optimal exploitation of the Company’s assets.
