NSW: 200 CCTV cameras to be installed in 22 railway stations

nsw-cctvNSW Minister of Transport Andrew Constance has announced a AUD 2 million (USD 1.4 million) contract has been awarded to roll out 200 extra CCTV cameras at public transport locations across regional NSW.
22 train stations and coach stops will be upgraded over the next year with high definition CCTV, ensuring customer safety and assisting police with investigations when necessary.
“Last year we announced a trial of new personal staff safety cameras on selected regional services. Now with these extra security measures, we’re working to make sure customers’ journeys are as safe as possible, along with protecting our staff.”
The additional CCTV cameras will be accompanied by new Customer Help Points which will also be installed as part of the work.
The Customer Help Points, when pressed, will connect customers to a 24/7 emergency support centre where real-time assistance can be provided.
