First China-London rail freight service launched

china-ukBrunel Project Cargo (BPC) is participating in the first container train service from Yiwu, China, to London. The train is expected to arrive at Barking Station in East London on the 18th January. Yiwu Timex Industrial Investment is responsible for the new route.
“The new service has a very quick transit time. We believe this is going to change the way a lot of forwarders and shippers view their imports and exports for China. Particularly with airfreight, as instead of 30 days import from China, there is now a rail option of just 14 days,” Mike White, Group Operations director at BPC said.
The cost of rail freight transport is 50% less than current air freight transport, and transit time is nearly 50% shorter than sea freight transport.
