EUR 227 million rail contract signed in Poland

PKP Polish Railway Lines signed a PLN 966 million (EUR 227 million) contract for the modernisation of Kraków Główny – Kraków Płaszów rail section that covers 20 km and is part of Główny Towarowy – Rudzice line.
The project involves the construction of the additional tracks in the Kraków agglomeration, the construction of two stops and the modernisation of four, the construction of new bridges. For the railway infrastructure, the project envisages the construction of an additional pair of tracks on the sections of Kraków Główny – Kraków Płaszów and Krakow Plaszow – Krakow Bieżanów
The introduction of more trains in agglomeration and long-distance traffic will be possible thanks to the construction of an additional pair of tracks on the section Kraków Główny – Kraków Płaszów and an additional track between Krakow Plaszow and Krakow Bieżanów. “The contract signed confirms the better implementation of the National Railway Program and opens new possibilities for faster and safer journeys in Krakow. The railway investments are significantly accelerated, and the national rail strategy will be fully realised,” the Minister of Infrastructure and Construction Andrzej Adamczyk said.
