China opened new rail line

07-chinaOperations on a new railway line linking Tianjin Municipality (north China) and Baoding City started recently, shortening the commute time between the cities from about two and a half hours to just one hour. The new line links two key cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan area and connects to other major railway routes across the country.
The railway line has a length of 158 kilometers with eight stations. The initial operation speed is 200 kilometers per hour. The project took over five years to be completed.
The railway is expected to boost local industrialization, urbanization and tourism and promote regional integration and economic upgrading.
