Bozankaya to supply trams in Iasi, Romania

After Timisoara (Bozankaya signs Timisoara tram contract and EU funds for 7 additional Bozankaya trams for Timisoara), the Turkish company Bozankaya also won the contract for the delivery of 16 trams to Iasi, ahead of PESA from Poland.

Bozankaya won the tender for the supply of 16 new trams in the city of Iasi, for EUR 29,6 million (RON 140.8 million), the offer provided being lower than the one presented by PESA.

Before the deadline set on the 26th of August, Iasi City Hall received two bids for the purchase of 16 trams, with an estimated value of EUR 30 million (RON 142.72 million). The offers came from the Turkish company Bozankaya and the Polish company, PESA. On July 2nd, Iaşi City Hall reopened the tender for the purchase of 16 trams, with a length of 26 metres, after the previous one was automatically cancelled because no bids were submitted.

Also, for Iasi, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration has launched a tender for the purchase of 16 30-metre-long trams. So far, only one bid was submitted, from PESA.

PESA also competed with Bozankaya for the tender in Timisoara. The contract for the 16 articulated trams, with batteries, was also won by the Turkish company Bozankaya.
