Changzhou opens its first metro line

On September 21, Changzhou has launched commercial services on city’s first metro line with a total length of 34.24 km and 29 stations. The line runs from Forest Park Station in the north to NanXiaShu Station in the south, passing three administrative districts, linking residential and business districts and connecting to the high-speed rail and public bus network.
The new line is operated by 36 trains which are equipped with Bombardier CityFlo 650 CBTC solution and Mitrac propulsion and control system. The systems were provided by Bombardier’s Chinese joint ventures, Bombardier NUG Signalling Solutions and Bombardier NUG Propulsion System.
In 2016, Changzhou Metro awarded Bombardier NUG Signalling Solutions the contract to equip its Line 1 with the CityFlo rail control solution. As a subcontractor to NUG, BNP provided Changzhou Metro Line 1 propulsion and control equipment, including engineering, manufacturing, testing, commissioning as well as the initial delivery of spare parts for traction converters.
Currently, the city is carrying out construction works for Line 2 which will have a total length of 20 km served by 15 stations.
Changzhou city plans to develop a metro network with six lines, totaling 181 km.
