EVR Cargo receives 300 new platforms

Estonian rail cargo operator EVR Cargo has received the 300 container platforms it has commissioned for renting out in Russia. The open wagons that the company intends to use for the same purpose are still under construction. “Three hundred platform cars have been delivered and will be gradually handed over to the lessee. Two hundred open wagons are being built,” EVR Cargo CEO Raul Toomsalu said.
In June, EVR Cargo concluded a 17.8 million euro contract to purchase 300 container platforms and 200 open wagons in the framework of its plan to buy railway cars for up to 35 million euros and rent them out on the Russian market. Rental agreements have been signed on roughly 100 of the open wagons and agreements concerning the other half are being negotiated, according to Raul Toomsalu.
