A new rail freight service between Rostock and Wels launched

Kombiverkehr has launched the direct train service linking Port of Rostock, Germany and Wels, in Austria. The train will cover the 930 km-long route in around 24 hours and if there will be sufficient demand, the new service is to be boosted to two weekly return trips.
The Kombiverkehr KG train service is carrying trailers, swap bodies and containers between the Port of Rostock and Wels. All the traction for the train on the German and Austrian rail network will be provided by DB Cargo AG.
“The train between Rostock and Wels is a model example of the network strategy pursued by Kombiverkehr. There are many different connection options from Rostock and Wels by both rail and water, which will enable forwarders to deliver intermodal transport on far-ranging transport corridors”, said Peter Dannewitz, Sales Manager of the company said.
Including the new service between Rostock and Wels, Kombiverkehr now offers a total of 38 departures a week in bilateral Germany-Austria transport.
