Works on Stara Pazova – Novi Sad viaduct launched

RZD International has started the works on the construction of the viaduct at KM51 of the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section, part of Belgrade – Budapest railway line.
The double-track railway bridge with the total length of 500 meters will be constructed near the Beska railway station on the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section. The works on clearing of the site and designing geodetic network are under way.
The construction of the viaduct will last for nearly a year and a half.
The completion of the project will allow passenger trains to run at speeds of 200 km/h, and freight trains, with speeds of 130 km/h on the section. The existing single-track railway line was built in the end of the 19th century, and the highest possible train speed there is 43 km/h.
Works on the first 200 km/h designed line were started in July, on the 7-km section between Stara Pazova and Injia. Currently, 9 km of the section are already laid on both tracks of the haul.
RZD International is working on construction and modernization of the double-track railway on the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section, which exceeds 40 km in length, under a USD 248 million Additional Agreement 3.2 to the main contract, which includes the construction of the viaduct at KM51.
The agreement envisages the construction of a double-track railway line, 2 viaducts, 2 galleries, 19 bridges and overpasses and 36 small bridges. Moreover, the company will build the new station Beska with the pedestrian underpasses, reconstruct Injia, Sremski Karlovci and Petrovoradin stations with pedestrian underpasses as well and the Karlovacki Vinohrady roadside station.
