Works launched on the second Eglinton Crosstown LRT station

laird-view_ext_cToronto has launched the works for the Laird station on Eglinton Crosstown LRT. The station is located near the midpoint of the 19-km LRT line. Construction began in March on Keelesdale, the first underground station. By the end of the summer, more than half of the underground stations on the 25-station line will be under construction.
Ontario has invested CAD 5.3 billion (EUR 3.65 billion) toward the capital costs of the LRT line. The Eglinton Crosstown LRT is expected to begin service in 2021 and, by 2031, is is expected to have an annual ridership of about 50 million. The line will have connections with the bus routes, three TTC interchange metro stations and GO Tranzit system.
