Winner for Kraków LRVs contract selected

MPK Kraków selected Pesa to deliver 35 new trams with the option of additional 15 vehicles. The vehicles will be unidirectional, with least 60% low floor, and will have a length of 32 to 35 meters. The Krakowiak LRVs will be free catenary for a distance of 3.5 km.
Pesa’s offer had a value of PLN 427.4 milion (EUR 100.4 million) for the 50 LRVs. Under the contract, the LRVs must be supplied within 30 months, with a delivery frequency of three vehicles every 2 weeks. Pesa will have to deliver the additional LRVs between 2021 and 2023.
In October 2016, MPK Kraków opened the offers submitted by four tenderers: Pesa, Škoda, Newag and Stadler – Solaris consortium. Within the tender, Pesa submitted the lowest price offer, but MPK Kraków excluded the company from the competition due to delayed delivery of the Krakowiak fleet, as price was not the only tender criterion.
Pesa contested its disqualification to the National Court of Appeal which decided in company’s favour.
On August 8, 2017, MPK resolved the proceedings and officially announced Pesa, as the winner of the tender.
